As part of supporting and celebrating cultural diversity and awareness in schools, Orange High School's creative and performing arts students and Indigenous students were given the opportunity today to watch Australian Idol winner Casey Donovan perform and present an educational keynote for students today.

Casey was the youngest ever winner of Australian Idol in 2010 at age 16. She has made an incredible mark on the Australian entertainment industry as a musician, on stage in musical theatre, as a television presenter, emcee and author.
Students also heard from Aboriginal Liaison Officer Glen Sutherland, who gave an inspirational talk to Indigenous students, about cultural awareness and diversity.
Many other members of the community came to take part in the event, including Police Youth Liaison Officer, Constable Belinda Bostock.

Indigenous students then took part in a Creating Career Opportunities workshop, hosted by the Aboriginal Employment Strategy Group from Dubbo. The group engages with and supports young Aboriginal students in Years 9, 10, 11 and 12 by introducing different careers and opportunities for bright futures.

Deputy Principal Mrs Hamilton said it was fantastic to see the benefits of this event, and that students were given a real boost of inspiration and confidence within themselves.
