Facilities

Orange High School delivers high quality educational experiences in state of the art learning environments that support the needs of 21st century learners. Our school buildings are surrounded by extensive outdoor learning facilities including two large sporting ovals, newly re-surfaced multi-purpose courts, covered quadrangles and well maintained gardens. In addition to the contemporary classrooms, Orange High School boasts innovative learning spaces, equipped with the latest technology allowing our students to excel in their chosen fields of interest.

THE MUSIC CENTRE

Construction of our Music/Recital Room was completed in September 2013, offering three large learning spaces including a music recital room. The recital room is architecturally & acoustically designed, providing both an intimate and professional space for our stage band and choir to rehearse. All of our music rooms are equipped with modern sound systems and equipment, including a full range of high quality musical instruments. A specialised computer laboratory is also included in the music centre for the purpose of composition and sound production.

CREATIVE ARTS STUDIO

The Creative and Performing Arts Faculty has a number of modern learning spaces such as art studios & darkroom facilities catering for photography students. These environments are fully equipped with ample art supplies along with digital SLR cameras. In keeping with Orange High School's proud tradition of excellence in the performing arts, we are equipped with specialised learning spaces for Dance and Drama; including workshop rooms featuring sound and lighting facilities. The Performing Arts Centre is also dedicated to full scope productions and art exhibitions. External learning environments are always embraced at Orange High School with opportunities for students to experience art galleries, exhibitions, theatre productions and cultural experiences.

SCIENCE LABORATORIES

Orange High School is equipped with six recently upgraded science laboratories which are fitted out with the latest scientific equipment and are supported by interactive (SMART) technology. These laboratories are designed to safely perform both practical and theory lessons in an innovative learning environment.

DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY

Orange High School is proud to have a fully equipped commercial kitchen that simulates working in a real hospitality environment. Senior Hospitality students are provided with the opportunity to receive a nationally recognised qualification in a fully outfitted commercial context. In addition, we operate three kitchens for Food Technology. Our Design and Technology department has specialised Textiles rooms as well as Woodwork and Metalwork facilities that allow students to complete a range of vocational courses.

AGRICULTURE

Orange High School is proud to have three Agricultural enterprises situated around Orange. We have an agricultural enterprise on-site at Orange High School adjacent to the ovals as well as two external sites. These environments allow students the opportunity to interact and care for animals, plant and maintain crops and learn how to operate small machinery. This hands on experience provides students with a unique opportunity to study a wide range of horticultural enterprises.

MIDDLETON FITNESS CENTRE

The Middleton Fitness Centre (named in honour of Mrs Lynne Middleton, OHS PDHPE teacher and Sports Organiser from 1988-2012)

The PDHPE Faculty is proud to have an outstanding facility to support our students in a range of practical based subjects. Thanks to the hard work of the OHS P&C, we have a multi-purpose space designed to provide students with a range of curricular and extracurricular-based opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills from PASS, SLR, practical PDHPE lessons, Talented Athlete Program, and School Sports Pathways. We have a wide range of equipment to support student strength and conditioning, including free and fixed weights, specialised machines, kettlebells, sandbags, battle ropes, cardio equipment, and a large space to conduct circuits, yoga, and other movement-based activities. This dynamic learning space allows OHS students to thoroughly engage in the practical application of their studies.
