Religion and ethics

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting the alternative meaningful activities option.

You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.

Parent/carers of students in Yrs 7-10 who wish to OPT IN to participate in Special Religious Education, please fill in and return the Special Religious Education Participation Letter to the front office.

Combined Christian SRE

Christian SRE at Orange High School is provided by SRE teachers from different Christian denominations and churches. The approved providers in this combined arrangement are Acts Global Churches, Catholic Diocese of Bathurst, Christian Community Churches of Australia, Australia Christian Churches, Christian Outreach Centre, Baptist Union of NSW, West Orange Baptist Church, Churches of Christ in NSW & ACT, Orange Evangelical Church, Uniting Church in Australia, Presbyterian Church of Australia (NSW), Anglican Diocese of Bathurst and The Salvation Army. All Christian SRE teachers are authorised and trained by an approved provider.

The Christian SRE curriculum is authorised by the Anglican Diocese of Bathurst. The Think Faith curriculum (Stages 4 – 6) is based on the Good News about Jesus Christ and learning about the key elements of Christian life and culture. The Think Faith curriculum scope and sequence document can be found here. Christian SRE engages students in conversations as they ask questions about life, explore values and discover faith.

During the time SRE classes are being held, students not attending will be located in their timetabled class and will participate in meaningful activities including revision of classwork, private study or completing homework.”

If your child would like to attend religious education please print and fill out the attached form and return to Orange High School front office. 

At Orange High School, Christian SRE is currently held on Tuesdays, with year 7 & 8 attending period 1, and year 9 & 10 attending period 2. During the time SRE classes are being held….”
